According to the Morningside Recovery Rehabilitation Center, there are approximately six billion cell phone subscriptions worldwide, that means almost every person on the planet owns a cell phone of some sort. Nowadays, it is impossible going out without seeing at least one person glued to their cell phone. There are lots more reasons today to use cell phone, it’s not just for texts and calls anymore, phones keeps on ringing  because of notifications from emails, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media. Even children are indulge to use cell phones as their parents give it to keep them entertained and avoid acting up, children love and enjoy various of apps and fun games. The main purpose of cell phones is necessary to keep us in touch to those people far away from us. Despite of this, too much usage of the said gadget also have negative impact that we should be aware of. It is widely known that cell phones emit radiation as they are radio frequency transmitters. Even though they operate at low frequencies, undue exposure can cause long-term health problems that can seriously affect your living.

A study held at the University of Essex in the United Kingdom shows that participants felt unenthusiastic feelings toward the person they were talking to while using cell phone. The researchers asked 34 different pairs of strangers to discuss important personal events on their lives. The participants are divided by two, half had mobile device while the others had notebook visible. At the end of the study, the results showed that the people who tell their stories with a notebook visible felt trusting and close to the stranger, different than those who had cell phone at hand. This study only proves that cell phones can interfere with relationships, particularly in serious matter discussion. In addition, using cell phones may results to antisocial behavior and cause the users to lose social skills which are valuable in our daily living.
